Do you want to improve your relationships and confidence?
Do you want to express yourself clearly and freely?
Are you unsure about your boundaries or how to express them to others?
Are you afraid to speak or sing?
Is there a self-defeating voice inside you that you want to quiet down?
Do you want to feel FREE and be able to improvise in music and in life?
Perhaps long ago someone told you you sound bad, you are not good enough or you can't do it.
So you carried on believing that. For years.
And now your voice is weak, tired, strained and uncertain because it has never had a chance to be explored or discovered.
The only way to really find out if that person was right is to get some tools. The most important tool is NOT your voice.
It's not even your throat. Or your ears. It's your BREATH. This is the magic of Voicework. It is a direct access point to your nervous system through breath and vibration. Working with your voice offers you constant direct awareness of your capacity to influence and settle anxiety, depression, and improve your relationships.
Whether you are a beginner or experienced voice student - I will help you become more intimate with your instrument and take a giant step forward in your personal and vocal freedom and ability. I have been singing and performing for 25 years and my students have told me that they walked away with more tools in 1 lesson than they have in 5 times as many with other teachers.
Here is your first lesson. My number one tip: SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOUR VOICE!
Psychotherapeutic Voicework can include breath work, singing technique, vocal anatomy & health, performance coaching, music theory and expressive songwriting. These elements are offered in a non-judging, meditative atmosphere, where your body and psyche are held with care as they heal and grow. We will practice and develop mindfulness, concentration, stamina, tone, pitch, breath support, music theory and ear training all in a calm and supportive space. Bring a willingness to grow and together we will discover your one-of-a-kind expressive voice.
This work offers an integrative practice that invites a unique intimacy with the body, breath and voice. Some of the teachings are based on the foundations of Indian Classical Music and others are contemporary western methods.
We begin slowly with a body and breath warm up. We will practice vocal exercises and ear training that give you a foundation in music fundamentals. Finally, we can incorporate your song choices or a personalized songwriting workshop tailored to meet your goals.
