We wake up to life over and over again. Letting ourselves come into reality as if we have just arrived.
When I am in this state of mind I encounter the world with a child's fascination. I have nothing holding me back and judging what I have or haven't done in the past. I am more purely in the present moment. Yes, we hear about this concept in spiritual teachings all the time. And beyond that feeling of contentment that the teachers are advocating for, starting over is an opportunity. Not just to feel whole and satisfied, but to open to everything that is available to us. To be in the moment without expectation. "I just got here, I have no idea what this is about. Let me find out..." This attitude is what has opened me to a renewed sense of community and connection with people around me. It allows me to be curious about my relationships - old and new. It allows me to sing and just listen to my voice as if I've never heard it before. As if I've never made a sound, I have not expectation of what will be expressed. This is creativity. It is the unknown being born. There is a moment of expansion and acceptance that whatever comes forth is not in my control - I allow something that has never been before to come into existence. My best songs have been birthed in this way. Just listening to an impulse to sit down and open, the melody and words are free to just flow through because there is no judgement. Nothing holding them back.
