Have you heard your voice lately? From within?
I have started humming with a drone while my ears are plugged by in-ear headphones. It is like swimming in a sea of sound vibration. If I stay there long enough, the rest of my body sometimes melts away completely. All I am is sound. My entire experience is breath moving through vocal folds that vibrate and hit each other. And that is all voice is. It is so simple. Just a physiological experiment. How easy can it be to create sound? To be sound...? Listening from within, I hear the nuances. I hear when the air gets caught or there is some other hindrance. I make more space for the possibilities of vibrational clarity. Where does it go? Into my nasal passage, my lips, my forehead? Or into my feet, my arms, my heart? How do I hold my throat with ease as air passes through? It is such a personal experience. There is an intimacy involved in listening to my own voice. I am not producing the sound for the benefit of anyone else. Just exploring internally for the sake of becoming even more in tune with the vibrations of my own body. Ultimately, as I learn to listen more closely to my true voice, coming into relationship with others is much more satisfying.
